Fall Times

Avery celebrated her 6 month birthday on Saturday!  We marked the occasion by conducting a mini photo shoot here at the house and face-timing with family back in Cincy on Sunday.  The past few weeks have flown by because we have had so many fun plans over the weekends in October.  Johnny's brother, Daniel, married his beautiful fiance, Kim, on October 27th and we had a few showers to honor the couple in the weeks leading up to the wedding.  We were very happy to get to spend time with Johnny's family and especially Nita, who flew all the way in from California for the special occasion.  We also visited the pumpkin patch at our church to pick pumpkins and of course take pictures of Avery to capture her fist visit!  Unfortunately, we carved our pumpkins too early this year and they melted before Halloween.  Guess we'll know to wait later next year.  Avery was a ladybug for Halloween and seemed pretty content in her costume.  We walked to a couple of houses to introduce Avery to some neighbors on Halloween and then she was off to bed before we had our first trick-or-treater.  Tomorrow is another landmark for baby girl because we will be visiting Dr. Haile for her 6 month check-up and yes she will be receiving some shots.  So sad!  On the bright side, we'll learn how much she has grown over the past month.  I'm not certain of her exact weight right now, but she has grown into her 6 month clothing.  It seemed like overnight she outgrew her 3 month sizes and was wearing 6 month clothes.

Here's what is new with Avery:
Weight: guessing between 13-14lbs
Clothing Size: 6 month
Food: Avery has tried oatmeal, sweet potatoes, acorn squash, pears, avocado, carrots, and butternut squash.  She still nurses in the morning, eats oatmeal mid-morning, takes 2 bottles while we're at work, nurses at 6, eats "dinner" with us, and takes one more bottle at 10pm.  I am very happy and proud that I am still breastfeeding.  I love our time together nursing and I endure my time spent pumping because I know it is worth it.  Pears and carrots seem to have been her favorites so far.
Activities: Avery rolls all over to get where she wants to go.  She hasn't crawled yet, but pushes herself up with her arms and rocks as she tries to pull her legs under her.  She can sit up by herself, but loses her balance and falls over.  She blows raspberries with her mouth, laughs and babbles.  She repeated after me and said "momma" on October 4th and did it again this past Friday.  She loves to try and grab the pictures in her books when we read to her and she also helps turn the pages (so cute)!

She is a very happy and content baby  and we just love her to pieces.  I feel very blessed to have such a wonderful little family.  We are looking forward to having some down time over the next few weeks to spend time at home Avery before the holidays.  I am very excited to announce that we have decided to travel to Cincy for Thanksgiving this year and visit again after spending Christmas with Johnny's family.  Originally we were only planning to visit after Christmas, but I've been a little home sick lately so Johnny agreed to an additional visit.

Here's some pictures of all of our fun over the past month:

  1. I can't believe she is already half a year old AND wearing 6 months clothes. Sounds like she is a good eater which is awesome :-) I love all the pictures but especially the one of Avery and her mommy at the pumpkin patch and the one of Avery in the pretty dress sitting on the chair outside. Can't wait for our little ones to see each other again!
