Hello World-10 Weeks Later

My blogging has been neglected for so long, I don't even know where to begin.  As all of you know on May 3, 2012 we welcomed Avery into the world and my life has been forever changed for the better!  I've been meaning to post for weeks now but I just never seemed to get around to this item on my things to do list.  I think this is evidence of how motherhood has already changed me.  I have learned that life moves pretty quickly and it's important to live in the moment.  I have always had a 'things to do list' and typically thoroughly enjoyed checking off completed tasks, but over these last few weeks I vowed to soak up every moment I have at home with Avery.  If I felt like cuddling with her instead of doing the laundry while she napped, the laundry waited until another time and thus blogging was often postponed.  I was recently motivated (dare I say reinvigorated) to start blogging again by some friends asking for an update.  So here we go....

Avery will be 10 weeks old tomorrow and I will officially have only 2 more weeks of maternity leave.  I didn't think it would bother me to go back to work because I feel so confident that we secured a great nanny, but I cry a little everyday thinking that my time at home with Avery is coming to an end.  I will miss being able to spend so much time with her.  Johnny complains that he hardly gets to see her at night by the time he's home from work and I will be in the same boat.  He better watch out because I will probably throw elbows to have my time with Avery, once I'm working too.

Here's a little bit about Avery at 10 weeks young:
  • Weight: 8lbs, 7ozs (as of 07/03)
  • Length: 22 inches
  • Eating about 4 ounces five times a day (about every 4 hours) up until 12:30 am and then it's nighty nighty time.
  • Sleeping from about 1 am until 7 am typically straight  through the night (hurray!).
  • She rolls all over in her sleep, but hasn't initiated a roll during play time.
  • She can hold herself in a seated position, but we still haven't learned to balance yet.  She can fully hold her head up and look all around.
  • She is quite inquisitive these days!  She will study pictures on the wall and loves to look at her reflection in a mirror.
  • She smiles and coos at Mommy and Daddy all the time and typically only fusses when she's tired.  (I haven't had much luck capturing that smile on camera yet, but I'm still working on it).
  • She has started to mimic facial expressions like sticking her tongue out and we're working on a kissy face.
  • She loves to sing "Wheels on the Bus" and "Pattycake" with Mommy and listen to oldies music.

Here's some pictures from the past 10 weeks:
